22 Oct Piano Transformation Challenge
I am entering an exhibition that challenges artisans to reuse old pianos destined for the tip and turn them into something else! I have three entries that were created from an old 1921 Becker upright piano rescued from a church in Newlyn where it was destined to be put to the stake and burnt! The exhibition is on at the Meat Market (in the Stables) in North Melbourne running from 22nd October to 2nd November 9am to 5pm. The instrument pictured here was made using the soundboard and bracing of the piano, along with the keys for decoration.
UPDATE 5th November
Well I’m proud to say my entries won in two categories. The PianoGuitar won the Art and Entertainment category and Trojan, the horse, won the Left Field category. Thanks to Pianos Recycled and the Victorian Woodworkers Association for running the competition.
