Cigar Box Guitar/Ukulele Course

Make one of these awesome Guitars or Tenor Ukuleles in our single day Cigar Box Guitar/Ukulele Making Course. Everything is provided for you to make your very own customised CBG or CBU. There are lots of options to choose from too. Under the guidance of Luthier Nick Carpenter, you can complete one of these great playing instruments in just one day!
Please choose from the available dates (in green) from our calendar below (red dates are fully booked). Courses run on Saturdays, from 10am to 5pm.
Description
The CBG and CBU have many options for you to choose from during the course, including
– chromatic or diatonic (dulcimer) scale (guitar only)
– sound ports, f holes or no sound holes
– a wide range of colours
– set up for slide or fretting
– tuning options
– optional pickup with control knob selection.
Customise it to make it truly your own!
We do not promote smoking and as such our cigar boxes are actually new timber boxes that are made in our workshop. They have the Wildwood logo printed on the front face of the box.

Tuners – 3 or 4 Die cast, sealed, chrome tuners
Scale Length – guitar 686mm, Tenor Ukulele 420mm
Pickup – Dual contact piezo with Volume and Tone control
String Config for guitar- 3 strings, different tunings available GDG, DAD, etc.

I enjoyed my CBG course. I had 3 or 4 false starts due to Covid restrictions, so built a few CBG’s from internet instructions. Compared to Nick’s , mine had a lot of shortcuts. As for Nicks course, he allows you to be arty, and keeps nudging you back on track.. The CBG has a nice box, and I was most impressed with his fret board..I finished up with a nice instrument, and had a fun day with Nick building it. Highly recommended

This was a fantastic course and one I would definitely recommend. It is a great way to spend a day if you have the weekend in Daylesford. I learnt a lot of new skills, in particular, the set up of the neck and frets. I’m glad I did this course before attempting a cigar box guitar myself, my subsequent projects will be all the better for it!
