Our Resonator Style guitar building course will show you how to construct this iconic guitar model.  Under the stunning chrome cover plate is a spider bridge and aluminium cone, which gives this instrument its unique sound.  Apart from the amazing chrome hardware, this model boasts Abalone style fret markers, black/white/black/white binding, Maple neck and Poplar laminate fretboard.  Please be aware, as this is essentially an acoustic instrument with a lot of metal parts, a great deal of patience will be required to set it up correctly!

Custom Vinyl Decal

You can personalise your custom guitar by having a name emblazoned on the headstock. We can create a black vinyl decal in a range of fonts, so you can really personalise your instrument. Please note, we cannot copy any brand names, add symbols, logos or reproduce other fonts other than the ones shown below. Please check your typing as the decal will be as it is typed here. You can use all UPPER CAPS if you want (font 6 is shown in upper caps but can be in either). So please type it exactly how you want it to appear.

You need to enter less than 15 characters.

The more text you have, the smaller the font will be (15 characters or less is recommended). Decal is approx. 90mm long.

Guitar Cases

Add a Hard Case to your order to protect your new guitar. The Rectangular Hard Case is suitable for ST, STA, STAL, TL, TLA and RIC models.

Pickup Upgrades

You can upgrade the pickups on your guitar with the following high quality Gotoh or Wilkinson pickups. The biggest improvement you can make to your guitar's sound is upgrading the pickups, and Gotoh and Wilkinson pickups are highly regarded, top quality products. Please note we do not have upgrades for the RIC and Resonator models at the moment. Please choose the correct pickups for the instrument you are building.

Machine Head Upgrades

Gotoh tuners are well renowned, quality machine heads that stay in tune and have very smooth gears. They are one of the best machine heads available. Make you guitar the best it can be!

Bridge/Tailpiece Upgrades

You can upgrade the bridge and tailpiece on a number of guitar models with these Tune-o-matic Gotoh bridge saddles and tailpieces. Bridge saddles and tailpieces are suitable for the FV, SG, LP and LP Left-handed models. Bridge saddle only for Archtop and RIC models.

Guitar Strings Upgrade

You can upgrade to the D'Addario XL110 - 10-46 Regular Light, XL Electric Guitar Strings or XL160 Bass Guitar Strings. A very popular, great quality set of strings to finish off your awesome creation.

    Really enjoyed this course and the whole experience. The resonator is a quality choice. Fun to build, backed by great guidance from Nick. Im stoked with how it came out and how it sounds. Highly recommend for anyone looking to expand their acoustic collection and play some nice delta blues.

    The two day workshop was a wonderful experience, well worth the drive from Adelaide and room at the Daylesford (which also hosted eclectic live guitar music both nights, but I digress). The Wildwood studio sits in a beautiful relaxing bush land setting, ideal for some calm creativity. Nick is great company and an excellent teacher; knowledgeable and patient. Due to a cancellation, there were only two students, so we got plenty of attention and tutelage. As well as many tales and lots of laughs.
    Now, about the guitar. The Resonator is truly a gorgeous beast and I love that bluesy twang. But I also admired Simon’s stylish Rickenbacker! And there’s something very special about assembling, polishing and setting up your own guitar. Worth a fortune in bragging rights! My only dilemma is what’s next. I’ve always fancied a Les Paul and always admired the simplicity of a Tele. But man, that Ricky is a brazen design! Oh well, I’ll think on it, but I will be back for more. Thanks Nick!

    The two-day course was great fun, and the setting of Nick’s workshop and studio is spectacular…the best Australian bush setting you can imagine.
    The resonator “Dobro” style guitar has a great sound that is very smooth and yet with a bit of that slide honky tonk that Jerry Douglas would like to have. I up-graded with a Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker, and it is superb.
    If you’re looking to build a resonator-style guitar, look no further, and sign up with Wildwood. It’s a bargain, and at no extra cost, you also get the bragging rights of being able to say you built your very own Dobro-esque.

    Lucky to be the first constructor and reviewer of the resonator, Nick was great to work with as this guitar is a bit fiddly and we worked through a couple of refinements, i learnt a lot about setting up guitars as well as building my own with the resonator

    Great 2 days, workshop well organised and equipped, there are no shortcuts here with Nick ensuring you build a top quality product and very happy with the results

    From the few friends i have shown a couple already talking about booking a spot
