The ukulele in this artwork is a metaphor for a nuclear bomb, with its iridescent yellow and radioactive symbol emblazoned on it. A ukulele actually has an arm, or neck, so a visual representation of disarmament was possible. The play on words, from nuclear to uke-lear was the inspiration behind this piece, and the fact that the whole nuclear disarmament effort was driven along by grass roots protest songs.
